ClassArena vs Blooket: Team Game Shows or Individual Game Modes?

Blooket is one of the most loved tools in classrooms right now, and students ask for it by name. ClassArena is built for a different moment. This page lays out how they differ so you can pick the right one for the lesson in front of you.

Two very different kinds of fun

Blooket wraps a question set in game modes like Gold Quest and Tower Defense. Each student joins on their own device with a game ID, answers questions, and uses the rewards inside the game: stealing gold, building defenses, collecting characters called Blooks. The chaos is the point, and students love it.

ClassArena keeps the whole class on one screen. Teams face a Jeopardy-style Quiz Board, a Family Feud-style Face-Off, a timed Lightning round or a head-to-head Tournament bracket. The energy comes from the room, not from individual screens: teams huddle, argue, and cheer when the board flips.

Devices and attention

Blooket students don't need an account; they join with a game ID, QR code or link. They do need a device each, and most of the game happens on that device. That is ideal for independent practice and for keeping every student busy.

ClassArena needs only the teacher's device and a projector. Because everyone is looking at the same board, it works well when you want to discuss answers, correct misconceptions as a class, or keep eyes up instead of down. Buzz-In mode can use phones as buzzers if you want, but no game requires them.

Free plans

Blooket's free plan lets teachers create question sets and host games, with a cap on players per game and some modes and features reserved for its paid Plus plan. See Blooket's own pricing page for the current limits.

ClassArena's free plan includes 1 active game, 4 modes (Quiz Board, Face-Off, Buzz-In and the Randomizer Wheel), up to 2 teams, and a buzz-in room for up to 25 students. Pro is $6 a month or $48 a year for all 8 modes, unlimited games, up to 8 teams and more.

Which one teaches the content?

Both tools run on your questions. Blooket's strength is repetition: students see the same set many times while chasing in-game rewards. ClassArena's strength is discussion: a team has to agree on an answer out loud, and the teacher can pause on a hard question and teach it to the whole room.

Pick Blooket when…

  • Students each have a device and you want everyone practicing at once.
  • You want lots of repetition on one question set with game rewards.
  • Your students already love Blooket and ask for it as a treat.

Pick ClassArena when…

  • You want to review as a class and talk through the tricky questions.
  • You'd rather have eyes on one board than on thirty screens.
  • You want a Jeopardy or Family Feud style review without building it in slides.

Frequently asked questions

Is ClassArena like Blooket?

Both turn questions into games, but they play differently. Blooket runs on each student's device. ClassArena runs on the projector with the class split into teams.

Can I use ClassArena and Blooket together?

Yes. A common pattern is Blooket for independent practice during the unit and a ClassArena team game show for the review day before the test.

Does ClassArena work without student devices?

Yes. Every mode runs from the teacher's device. Phones are only used if you choose to open a Buzz-In room.

Is ClassArena free?

Yes. The free plan includes 1 active game and 4 game modes (Quiz Board, Face-Off, Buzz-In and the Randomizer Wheel). Pro is $6 a month or $48 a year and unlocks all 8.
