Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 9, 2026

The short version

ClassArena is a tool for teachers. We collect only what we need to run the service. No student accounts are ever created. Students join games by room code — we never collect their names, emails, or any personal information. We do not sell data, show ads, or share your information with third parties for marketing.

1. Who we are

ClassArena ("we", "us", "our") operates the website classarena.org and the related classroom game platform. For questions about this policy, contact us at hello@classarena.org.

2. Information we collect

Teacher accounts

When you create an account we collect:

  • Your email address (used for login and transactional emails only)
  • Games, categories, questions, and rosters you create
  • Game history and score records you generate

Billing (Pro subscribers)

Payments are processed by Stripe. We store only your subscription status and Stripe customer ID. Your card details never touch our servers.

Students

Students do not create accounts. They join a live room by entering a code on their device. We do not collect student names, emails, ages, or any personally identifiable information. If you enter student names into a roster, that data is stored in your account and is never visible to us or shared with anyone.

Usage data

We collect basic, anonymized usage metrics (page views, feature interactions) to understand how the product is used and where to improve it. This data is not linked to individual users.

3. How we use your information

  • To provide and maintain your account and saved content
  • To process subscription payments via Stripe
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, subscription receipts)
  • To respond to support requests
  • To improve the product based on aggregated usage patterns

We do not use your data to show ads, build advertising profiles, or sell to third parties.

4. Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to operate ClassArena:

  • Supabase — database and authentication hosting. Your account and game data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure.
  • Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment data.
  • AI providers — the AI question generator sends your topic and grade-level input to an LLM API to generate questions. No student data is sent.

5. FERPA & student privacy

ClassArena is designed with school privacy requirements in mind. Because students never create accounts and we collect no student PII, ClassArena does not act as a "school official" with access to education records under FERPA. Roster data you enter is your own content, stored exclusively in your account.

6. Data retention

Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page, which permanently removes your games, rosters, and history. Billing records are retained as required by law.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your games and rosters

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@classarena.org.

8. Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will notify registered users by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
